Anderson Cooper: I've Always Known I Was Gay

By On Top Magazine Staff
Published: March 12, 2013

CNN host Anderson Cooper has said that he cannot recall a time when was not aware of being gay.
“I've always known I was gay from the time I was a little kid,” Cooper told The Huffington Post Gay Voices Editor Michelangelo Signorile. “I can't remember a time when I wasn't aware of it, even before I knew what it was or the name of it.”
Cooper, the host of the daytime talk show Anderson Live, spoke to Signorile from Rome, where he is covering the conclave to elect the next pope.
The 45-year-old Cooper came out gay last year after ducking rumors for years.
He's the recipient of GLAAD's 2013 Vito Russo Award, which recognizes an openly LGBT media professional who has made a significant difference promoting gay rights.
“I certainly don't think I'm worthy of it, but if it helps GLAAD and if it helps have more people know who Vito Russo is, then I think it is certainly worthwhile,” Cooper said.

Keanu Reeves hasn’t been on our screens much lately. His last film was the little seen Henry’s Crime in 2010, while his bigger budget 47 Ronin keeps having its release date pushed back (it’s currently due at Christmas). However one film he appears it that should appear before then is Generation Um…
The movie follows a day in the life of John (Reeves) and his two beautiful cohorts as they live life on the fringe, immersed in sex, drugs and indecision. As they navigate their daily routine of bars, crowds and New York City living, they embark on a path of self-discovery.
It’s mumblecore with Reeves lookin at the disaffection of modern life. I can’t imagine it’ll break the box office though.

Steven-SpielbergWhen Dreamworks separated from Paramount, most of its new funding came from the India based Reliance Entertainment. Now it seems Steven Spielberg is hoping to strengthen the connection to the subcontinent, with a movie set in the disputed Kashmir border region between India and Pakistan.
During a trip to India, Spielberg told the Times Of India (via THR) that, “We have finalized a script for a movie. Part of it will take place on the India-Pakistan border in Kashmir. But we’re still trying to figure out the casting, locations and who’s going to direct it.” The film will be co-produced by Dreamworks and Reliance.
Unfortunately there’s no more info on the movie than that.
Spielberg was apparently in India to celebrate the success of Lincoln with Anil Ambani, the billionaire chairman of Reliance Group. The movie’s box office is certainly good news, as Reliance has apparently been slightly worried about its investment, after a few Dreamworks projects failed financially.

Capriles
Venezuelan opposition presidential candidate Henrique Capriles called out chosen interim president Nicolas Maduro yesterday for reviving allegations that Capriles is gay and attacking him for his Jewish faith, Blabbeando reports.
In a video recorded after a social media campaign by supporters intended to get Capriles to speak out against Maduro's homophobia, he did so.
Said Capriles:
I'd like to send a respectful and considerate message in rejection to the homophobic remarks made by Nicolás [Maduro] today. It's not the first time. I believe in a society without exclusion and that's the way I express it to the country. A society where no one feels excluded based on the way they think, their race, their creed, their sexual orientation. People should go out and reject it.
That's fascism. Absolute fascism. From the extreme right.
If that's how you want to attack me, let it be. But from here on I will always demand respect for all Venezuelans. Because the society that we want to build in Venezuela is a society without exclusion.
You cannot talk of inclusion if there is exclusion. There should be overwhelming rejection of something like that.
Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

Emma-WatsonA few weeks ago it was revealed that Emma Watson was in early talks to play the title role in Disney’s live action version of Cinderella. However it appears she’s now passed on the part, at least according to a tweet from Variety’s Marc Graser.
It was recently reported that Saoirse Ronan, Alicia Vikander (The Seventh Son), and Gabriella Wilde (Carrie) were trying out for the lead role, but it’s not known is Disney will now offer the role to one of them, or if they’ll look elsewhere.
Kenneth Branagh is set to direct the film, with Cate Blanchett already set to be the wicked queen. Aline Bosh McKenna’s wrote the script, which was recently rewritten by Chris Weitz. No specific story details have been released as to whether this take departs from the classic story, although the studio hopes to make a big-budget, live-action spectacle in the same vein as Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

jude-lawIt’s a game of musical chairs over at Jane Got A Gun, as while Natalie Portman stays attached to the Lynne Ramsey film, the main male roles are busy moving around. For a long time Michael Fassbender was set to co-star, but with shooting now scheduled to start next month, he’s had to step aside as he committed to X-Men: Days Of Future Past.
His role has gone to Joel Edgerton, who had recently signed on for a different role in the movie, with THR reporting that Jude Law is now stepping into the part Edgerton jumped from.
Portman is set to play Jane Hammond, a woman in the Old West who enlists the help of a former lover (Egderton) when a band of outlaws come searching for her husband. Jude Law will play John Bishop, the villainous leader of this evil group.
Ramsay is set to direct from Brian Duffield’s Black Listed screenplay.

Screen Shot 2013-03-12 at 1.43.52 AMAn attorney for a photographer who refused to take photos of a same-sex commitment ceremony told the New Mexico Supreme Court she was simply expressing her right to free speech and artistic expression.
Elaine Huguenin is protected by the First Amendment, claims Jordan Lorence of the Alliance Defending Freedom, who says Huguenin shouldn’t have to violate her religious beliefs and promote something she is against.
Tobias Wolff, who is representing the lesbian couple Huguenin snubbed back in 2006, maintain that hers is a public business, and is therefore beholden to New Mexico’s anti-discrimination laws protecting sexual orientation. “The nature of the discrimination claim is very straightforward,” Wolff told the AP.
The New Mexico Human Rights Commission initially found Huguenin in violation of the law and ordered her to pay $7,000. Last June, the New Mexico Court of Appeals upheld that ruling. At the time, Huguenin asked if an African-American photographer would be required to photograph a Ku Klux Klan rally. “The Ku Klux Klan is not a protected class,” the court noted. “Sexual orientation, however, is.
The high court has yet to issue a ruling in the case.

Screen Shot 2013-03-11 at 11.41.12 PMThe Vatican jspent $30 million for part of a Rome apartment complex that has all the amenities: washer-dryer, tennis courts, the continent’s largest gay sauna.
Yup, according to The Independent, the Holy See dropped some major duckets on units in Via Carducci, steps away from the hedonistic delights of the cavernous Europa Multiclub— including a 12-room apartment for Cardinal Ivan Dias of India, who will be among those picking the next Pope.
It is not known, however, if the former archbishop of Bombay has popped downstairs to give spiritual guidance to the clients of the Europa Multiclub, given his belief that gays and lesbians can be cured of their “unnatural tendencies” through the “sacrament of penance.”
The sauna’s website promotes one of its special “bear nights,” with a video in which a rotund, hairy man strips down before changing into a priest’s outfit.
It says Bruno, “a hairy, overweight pastor of souls, is free to the music of his clergyman, remaining in a thong, because he wants to expose body and soul.”
A statement on the Euro Multiclub’ site claims it welcomes “each and everyone of you to exercise you rights to be yourself and live your unique and extraordinary life to the fullest.” How incredibly un-Catholic!
As The New Civil Rights Movement points out, though, this isn’t the Church’s first swim in unholy waters: It owns a $2.3-billion Germany publisher that sells thousands of dirty books with titles like Fuckable and Lawyer’s Whore.
Well you need something to read while waiting for someone to cruise your little cubby.

Maggie-QWith Twilight at an end, Summit Entertainment has lost its biggest franchise, but it’s hoping to have a similar amount of success with Divergent, based on the first in Veronica Roth’s planned young adult dystopian trilogy. Shailene Woodley has already signed on for the lead role, with Kate Winslet also up for the movie.
Now they’ve been joined by Maggie Q, Zoe Kravitz and Ansel Elgort according to THR.
Divergent, which has inevitably drawn comparisons to The Hunger Games, is about a 16-year-old girl named Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior, who lives in a society divided into five factions, each based on a different virtue: honesty, selflessness, bravery, peacefulness, and intelligence. Beatrice must choose which faction she wants to try and join, and starts training in order to enter.
Newcomer Ansel Elgort will play Tris’ brother Caleb, who chooses a different faction from his sister and family. Although he’s older that Tris in the book, THR suggest that he’s her twin in the movie. Zoe Kravitz is set to be Christina, Tris’ new friend and fellow initiate. Maggie Q meanwhile is Tori, a tattoo artist who’s involved in testing Tris to determine which faction she’s most suited for.
It seems they’re still looking for the male lead of Four, despite having been searching for months. Neil Burger is set to direct, with shooting kicking off later this year.
