Every year, on the last Monday in the month of May, millions of Americans honor the memories of those killed while serving in the armed forces. Memorial Day is a tradition that dates back to the 19th Century. While many people celebrate the federal holiday with a barbecue and a day off from work, for those who’ve served in the military, it’s a special day to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. President to visit city where twister touched left seven-block area ‘devastated’, with three infants among those killed
A tornado raged through a city on the US-Mexico border on Monday, destroying homes, flinging cars and ripping an infant from its mother’s arms. At least 13 people were killed, authorities said.
The twister hit Ciudad Acuna, a city of 125,000 across from Del Rio, Texas. Rescue workers were afterwards digging through the rubble of damaged homes in a race to find victims.

The Wolf volcano, located at the highest point of the islands that inspired Charles Darwin, has erupted for the first time in more than 30 years
A volcano perched atop one of Ecuador’s Galápagos Islands erupted in the early hours of Monday, the local authorities said, potentially threatening a unique species of pink iguanas.
The roughly 1.7km (1.1 mile) high Wolf volcano is located on Isabela Island, home to a rich variety of flora and fauna typical of the archipelago that helped inspire Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution following his 1835 visit.

A husband and wife stranded for two weeks in southern California’s high desert ate oranges and a pie and drank rainwater they collected in cups, but the 79-year-old man died before they were found, authorities said on Monday.
Off-road drivers found Dianna Bedwell, 68, and the body of her husband, Cecil Knutson, on Sunday afternoon near a Boy Scout camp on the Los Coyotes Indian reservation about 65 miles north-east of San Diego, sheriff’s Lieutenant Ken Nelson said. Bedwell was not able to tell authorities when her husband had died but an autopsy was being arranged, he said.
