A few policemen and soldiers are trying to keep the crowd away. On the bus station 4, a man lies wounded. He is an Eritrean man, mistaken for a gunman. Minutes earlier, a Israeli Bedouin assailant killed a soldier, snatching his assault rifle and opened fire at the crowd. People think it is a second gunman, and while some try to calm the crowd, several men kick the wounded Eritrean man in the head. After the lynching and shooting, he died at hospital.

The call for a media blackout after the attacks is symptomatic of a wider approach by the Erdogan government towards any critical media.

The identity of one Ankara explosion bomber has been confirmed by authorities. Even if the identity of the second bomber seems to have changed, it appears that most of the recent attacks on Turkish soil were carried out by the Islamic state group. The IS group has indeed been targeting Kurds in Turkey to retaliate to Kurds fighting in Iraq and Syria. Turkish authorities are now looking into the people above the bombers, but have not made any arrest yet.

Sen. Durbin Fails In His Defense Of Hillary’s Email Use

Sen. Dick Durbin (D., Ill.) Monday morning argued against Hillary Clinton’s campaign talking points, defending her use of one email system for both her personal and work correspondence when she was secretary of state.
Bloomberg’s Mark Halperin asked Durbin on Morning Joe what he would tell Clinton if, as secretary of state, she told him she was considering using a private server to operate all of her emails from. Durbin responded the he was not sure, but identified Clinton’s problem as something all members of Congress must deal with. He stated that all government officials struggle to make sure that their official emails and personal emails do not get mixed up on the wrong accounts.
Before Mika Brzezinski could follow up with a question of her own, host Joe Scarborough pressed Durbin on his statement.
“We all knew, and I knew you knew, that it was black and white. You just didn’t do campaign business on your personal accounts and you didn’t send emails on your official business accounts,” Scarborough said. “And that’s why as a former member and you as a current member you look at this arrangement  and ask ‘How could she have done this?’ Because we’re taught from the first day in.”
Durbin agreed with Scarborough, but said that as a member of Congress, he has to remind others not to send official emails to his personal email account and vice versa.
“You just made my point. What she did is she only set up one account so she forced everyone that had political inquiries, professional inquiries, classified information to all go to that one account,” Scarborough said. “That’s really dangerous.”
Durbin backed off of his previous statements and said he did not believe Clinton was motivated to hide things on her server from government observation such as Freedom of Information Act requests. Durbin also said he did not understand why Clinton kept her server in the basement but said “she will be asked about that plenty on Thursday,” referring to her appearance before the House Benghazi Committee this week.

Hillary Clinton Says The Benghazi Committee Has Become 'A Partisan Arm' Of The RNC

4753741
Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton thinks the Benghazi Committee has become “a partisan arm of the Republican National Committee,” she told CNN’s Jake Tapper in an interview that aired Sunday on “State of the Union.”
Tapper: You’re scheduled to testify before the Benghazi Committee and the House of Representatives in a few days. What are you expecting and how are you preparing?
Clinton: I really don’t know what to expect. I think it’s pretty clear that whatever they might have thought they were doing they ended up becoming a partisan arm of the Republican National Committee with an overwhelming focus on trying to — as they admitted — drive down my poll numbers. I already testified about Benghazi. I testified to the best of my ability before the senate and the house. I don’t know that I have very much to add. This is after all, the eighth investigation. Other committees of the Congress, standing committees with very experienced members and staff have all looked into this and basically just rejected the conspiracy theories that are still floating out there in some circles. So I really don’t know. I will do my best to answer their questions, but I don’t really know what their objective is right now.

Letter: Why so much hate for Clinton?

Published: Sunday, October 18, 2015 at 12:01 a.m.
Last Modified: Friday, October 16, 2015 at 6:14 p.m.
I really don’t understand all the controversy over Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email messages and her private server. On a recent round of comments on the radio, someone started his remarks by saying, “I don’t know how she got away with it.” My question is, “Got away with what?” What was in it for her? What did she gain? How did she benefit? I don’t get it.
I do believe that I am impartial in this. I don’t support her so far. I have not seen much appeal other than, “I’m next in line.” That was the same strategy as Bob Dole, John Kerry, John McCain and Mitt Romney. All losers.
I see nothing in her candidacy to be enthusiastic about. There is not enough charisma. Being a woman has nothing to do with it. She’s just another politician. Her positions are not extreme. She is a mainstream, middle-of-the-road Democrat.
I certainly don’t intend to vote for the crazy, screaming, loony party, which is what the tea party Republicans have become.
However, Clinton has committed no crime. Maybe she should have handled this differently, but there is no law here to be broken. The departmental guidelines were murky at best. Other previous secretaries of state (as well as former governor Jeb Bush and current Gov. Rick Scott) have handled their emails in a similar manner or worse.
None of this explains the hostility and venom against her. She seems to drive her opponents crazy, and I don’t understand why. You can oppose her without having to hate her.
All these commentators do is ask “what-if” questions. None of their speculations have proven to be true. They obviously do not like her and do not want her to be president, but they have nothing. Just screaming “Benghazi, Benghazi” does not prove anything.
I don’t understand how her critics have any credibility and why anyone publishes anything they say.

Report: China Already Violated Cybersecurity Agreement with US

A U.S. cybersecurity firm that works with the government has evidence that Chinese government-linked hackers violated the cyber agreement reached between President Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping less than a month ago.
The Wall Street Journal reported that CrowdStrike Inc. will announce Monday that some of its customers fell victim to unsuccessful cyber attacks that violated the leaders’ Sept. 25 agreementto stop state-sponsored cyber attacks on companies for commercial gain.
According to the firm, customers from the technology and pharmaceutical industries that will remain unnamed were targeted by hackers linked to the Chinese government. A pair of hacking attempts occurred on the days before and after Obama hosted Jinping for a state dinner at the White House during which the leaders reached the agreement. Other attempted hacks continued through October.
The Obama administration is “aware” of the report from CrowdStrike.
“We are aware of this report. We’ll decline comment on its specific conclusions. We have and will continue to directly raise our concerns regarding cybersecurity with the Chinese,” a senior administration official stated.
Director of National Intelligence James Clapper admitted last month that he did not have confidence that the deal between Obama and Jinping would stop China from launching cyber attacks on U.S. businesses.
The Obama administration has considered sanctioning entities in China and Russia for cyber attacks on U.S. companies but has yet to announce any such sanctions.
Chinese-origin hackers were also behind the massive attack on the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) computer networks that compromised the personal information of over 20 million Americans. The deal between Obama and Jinping in September did not cover hacks on government entities.

Ya'alon to visiting US military chief: Israel will defeat wave of terrorism - Arab-Israeli Conflict

In talks with the visiting chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff on Sunday Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon accused Iran of financing terrorist activities in an attempt to spark wider conflict, and vowed Israel would defeat the effort.
Gen. Joseph Dunford arrived in Israel on Saturday in his first official trip outside of the US since taking up his position on October 1, and met with Ya’alon and IDF Chief of Staff Maj.-Gen.
Gadi Eisenkot at the Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv for discussions about strengthening bilateral ties and strategic regional issues.
“We very much value your commitment to Israeli security.
The US and Israel share many common values and interests. We view our relationship as strategic, and I would say, as a cornerstone of our national security,” Ya’alon said.
Ya’alon praised the close cooperation between Israel’s Defense Ministry and the Pentagon, the two militaries, and ties between the intelligence agencies of both countries.
“We believe we must be on the same page regarding all developments in the Middle East,” he said. “The only set thing in the current situation of the Middle East is change, and the only thing that is stable is instability,” the defense minister said.
Ya’alon said that as nation states in the region collapse, Israel is witnessing a range of threats linked to the global jihad, like ISIS and Jabhat Al-Nusra, on its doorstep, as well as organizations supported by Iran.
“Iran, unfortunately, is the instigator and contributor of instability in the Middle East. We do not have a border or a territorial dispute with Iran, but the Iranian regime subverts us and does not intend to change its spots. It will continue being the chief instigator of terrorism in the region.”
Ya’alon said Iran has sought to set up terrorist bases against Israel from the Syrian Golan and was striving for regional hegemony and to export their revolution.
Commenting on the latest wave of violence with Palestinians, Ya’alon said “as we have done in the past... I believe that we will win.”
Gen. Dunford acknowledged the diplomatic ups and downs in “the family” between Washington and Jerusalem.
But military ties remain strong and will continue to be close, Dunford said.
Dunford said Ya’alon’s familiarity with regional challenges were better than his own. He said one of the reasons he came to Israel was “to listen to the [IDF] chief of staff, to you, and to the IDF commanders, because I know that you have the perspective that is very important to us. It will help us ensure that what are acting in the most effective manner.”
Meanwhile, Israel’s Ambassador to the US Ron Dermer said on Sunday Israel and the United States have resumed talks on future defense aid that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suspended in protest at the Iran nuclear deal.
The allies had been looking to agree on a 10-year aid package to extend the current US grants to Israel worth $3 billion annually, which are due to expire in 2017.
“With the nuclear deal now moving ahead, Israel is also moving ahead, hoping to forge a common policy with the United States to address the continuing dangers posed by Iran,” Dermer wrote in a post on Facebook.
“Discussions over a new Memorandum of Understanding between Israel and the United States, which had been on hold for some time, resumed this past week in Washington,” he said.
“Israel hopes that the discussions we are now engaged in will culminate in a longterm agreement that will dramatically upgrade Israel’s ability to defend itself by itself against any threat and enable Israel to address the enormous challenges we now face in the region,” Dermer also wrote.
Ya’alon, visiting Washington later this month, was also expected to pursue those talks, as would Netanyahu when he meets President Barack Obama in the White House on November 9.
