An entrepreneur wants to clear Canada’s capital of the Canada goose, by creating a squadron of drones. That could ruffle feathers in a country with a highly conflicted view of the goose to which it has given its name.

Government officials have told the family of a U.S. hostage who died in Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) captivity earlier this year that she was repeatedly sexually abused by the group’s leader.
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the self-styled “caliph” of the extremist group, raped Kayla Mueller repeatedly, counter-terrorism authorities told ABC News. Her parents, Carl and Marsha Mueller, confirmed officials had informed them of the abuse. “We were told Kayla was tortured, that she was the property of al-Baghdadi,” they said in the interview.
Kayla Mueller was 26 when her death, first reported by ISIS, was confirmed in February. She was captured in northern Syria in the Summer 2013.
United Nations human rights experts have called on Iran to immediately release a reporter for The Washington Post detained in Iran for more than a year.
The deal, made with hundreds of American plaintiffs, comes after a jury in Brooklyn found the bank liable for dealings with the group Hamas; the court was to decide on damages in that case starting Monday.
The experts’ statement came as a verdict was expected any day in the case of Jason Rezaian, the Washington Post correspondent who has been held since July 2014.
