M.N.: This article is a sober minded and balanced assessment with a particular, elegant lady's touch. I would add to it that not only Ukrainian situation (as a focus of comprehensive and multi-pronged corrective measures, in addition to those suggested by Ms. Applebaum) should be taken with the benefit of a long view, but, maybe more importantly, the reassessment of Russia herself
