Defense Issues, Leaders and Programs To Watch in 2016 National Security Adviser: Susan Rice, Obama’s adviser since July 2013, wields largely unprecedented powers over the national security apparatus. She has reportedly clashed with Carter and his predecessor, Chuck Hagel, and critics inside the building often use her as a scapegoat for problems with the war in Syria and Iraq. The roadmap for the war against the Islamic State group runs through her office. Islamic State group: It seems obvious to say, but the Islamic State group, commonly known as ISIS or ISIL, will define the last year of the Obama administration.   2.10.16 (February 10, 2016) I did revise my impressions and understanding of the circumstances of Col.Gen. Igor Sergun's death which were first described in the original post below. Presently I think that his death was not a suicide (it probably would be out of character for him, too) but that he was indeed killed in Beirut as was reported in Stratfor and Lebanese newspaper .  Gen. Zwack's article remains the most informative up to date about very little what is known about I. Sergun.  The "Voice From The Wilderness"  (the source is open and readily available but highly hypothetical, as always; do your own research if you are up to it) pointed to  Isaiah 52:13-53:12 from the " Songs of the Suffering Servant ":  Isaiah 52:13-53:12New International Version (NIV) 14 Just as there were many who were appalled at him[b]—     his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being     and his form marred beyond human likeness— ... 4 Su
