U.S. Intelligence Officials Believe Snowden Is Working With Russia, Lawmaker Says

WASHINGTON — A top congressional intelligence official said on Sunday that American counterintelligence officials are virtually unanimous in believing that Edward J. Snowden is “under the influence of Russian intelligence services.”
That suggestion came from Representative Mike Rogers, the Michigan Republican who is chairman of the Intelligence Committee.
Mr. Rogers had previously raised the possibility that Mr. Snowden, the former National Security Agency contractor, might be working for Russia, though the congressman has yet to offer any evidence. His assertions on Sunday, however, were his most sweeping to date.
“Every counterintelligence official believes that,” Mr. Rogers said on the NBC News program “Meet the Press.” “You won’t find one that doesn’t believe today he’s under the influence of Russian intelligence services.”
For Mr. Rogers, the question now is when that supposed collaboration began: after Mr. Snowden arrived in Moscow from Hong Kong in late June, or even before then, when he abruptly left Hawaii in May.
“The more we look into this, I think the more you’re going to find that that date gets further and further away from his story,” Mr. Rogers said.
In a Jan. 19 appearance on the same NBC program, Mr. Rogers said that some of Mr. Snowden’s actions in absconding with secret N.S.A. materials were “beyond his technical capabilities.”
But investigators have disclosed no evidence that Mr. Snowden’s work, while under contract to the N.S.A., might have been directed by a foreign power.
Ben Wizner, an American Civil Liberties Union lawyer who advises Mr. Snowden, has vigorously rejected Mr. Rogers’s contentions, noting that Mr. Snowden tried to gain asylum in several other countries before settling in Russia.
There has been no public indication that investigators for the F.B.I., the N.S.A. or the Pentagon have uncovered evidence that Mr. Snowden received assistance from any foreign intelligence service.

Doris Day - Autumn Leaves - 1956

Uploaded on Sep 27, 2008
I came to know Doris Day and her music through my mother back in the 1950's. She loved Perry Como, Nat "King" Cole, and Doris Day. Her Columbia albums were often played in our home stereo in Cuba. Her clean, delicately textured, and melodic voice filled every room of our household. So it is with great nostalgia that I bring you this gem of a song- "Autumn Leaves".

"Autumn Leaves" was originally a 1945 French song "Les Feuilles Mortes" (literally "Dead Leaves") with music by Joseph Kosma and lyrics by poet Jacques Prévert, English lyrics were written in 1947 by the American songwriter Johnny Mercer. With Mercer's exquisite lyrics the song became even more beautiful, it not only conveyed it's message of sadness and longing, but painted a story with the colors of Autumn.

I thought it fitting to use pictures of Doris Day and Rock Hudson as the main protagonists, given their popularity as a Romantic Comedy acting team, and in honor and tribute to their lifelong friendship.

This song is very dear to me and this is one of the most beautiful covers I've ever heard, and I've heard most of them... Taken from the album "Day by Day" released by Columbia Records on December 17, 1956; here you have Doris Day accompanied by Paul Weston's orchestra rendering an exquisite and beautiful version of "Autumn Leaves". Enjoy.
"Autumn Leaves"

The falling leaves
Drift by my window
The falling leaves
Of red and gold

I see your lips
The summer kisses
The sunburned hands
I used to hold

Since you went away
The days grow long
And soon I'll hear
Old winter's song

But I miss you most of all
My darling
When autumn leaves
Start to fall

Since you went away
The days grow long
And soon I'll hear
Old winter's song

But I miss you most of all
My darling
When autumn leaves
Start to fall
