Federal Bureau of Investigation Fiscal Year 2016 Budget

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey testified about his agency’s fiscal year 2016 budget request. Topics included the FBI’s mission, programs, and how the agency was tackling issues such as foreign fighters, cyber attacks, and the war on drugs. He said that one challenge in fighting *ISIL domestically was the difficulty in compiling an accurate profile of those Americans who decide to join the terrorist group. An example was the wide age range of the people. He also said that without legislative relief it would be impossible to obtain data off encrypted smart phones even with a warrant due to the levels of encryption allowed.
*The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) or the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS or DAISH/DAESH in Arabic), is a militant group that has called itself the Islamic State.
