«Бессмертный полк» прошел по Нью-Йорку

Общество «Русская молодежь Америки» провело в Нью-Йорке акцию «Бессмертный полк» в память о погибших в годы Великой Отечественной войны, сообщила координатор Бессмертного полка в Нью-Йорке Светлана Батрак.
В ней приняли участие более 100 человек: российские и американские ветеранские организации, байкеры США, России и стран участниц ВОВ, представители национальных общин, организаций российских соотечественников Нью-Йорка и соседних штатов, политики, общественные деятели США, американские и российские СМИ.
Участники прошли по пешеходной части Бруклинского моста, соединяющего районы Манхеттен и Бруклин. На набережной они запустили в небо белые шары с изображением журавлей под одноименную песню в память о тех, кто не вернулся с войны.
Представители «Русской молодежи Америки» и активисты молодежных организаций США раздали прохожим на Тайм Сквер и в Бруклине георгиевские ленточки и брошюры, рассказывающие об их значении и о Великой Отечественной войне.
По словам организаторов акции, «Бессмертный полк» ‑ обязательная часть десятидневной акции «Георгиевская ленточка». К 70-летию Дня Великой Победы планируется провести ряд мероприятий и акций в Нью-Йорке и других городах США во взаимодействии с Координационным советом соотечественников.
