Vladimir Putin accuses US of backing terrorism in Middle Eastby Shaun Walker in Krasnaya Polyana
Russian president tells gathering of politicians that Washington is playing a ‘double game’ and acting in self-interest
The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has launched a stinging attack on US policy in the Middle Eas,accusing Washington of backing terrorism and playing a “double game” in the Middle East. In a speech on Thursday at the annual gathering of the Valdai Club, a group of Russian and international analysts and politicians, Putin said the US had attempted to use terrorist groups

Civilians Under the Gun In Syriaby webdesk@voanews.com (William Gallo)
Since Russia launched its first round of airstrikes in Syria three weeks ago, reports have emerged that civilians were making up a shockingly large portion of the casualties. A report by a Syrian activist group is lending further weight to that accusation. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said this week civilian deaths constitute nearly one-third of the 370 people killed by Russian warplanes since the campaign began.
