The Russian air defence system has reportedly detected and intercepted a strike attempt by Ukraine’s S-200 missile system, which had been converted into an offensive configuration, according to TASS News Agency, citing the Defense Ministry.
The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. Moscow time on August 12, when the Ukrainian regime allegedly tried to carry out a terrorist strike on the Crimean bridge using the modified S-200 surface-to-air guided weapon.
Russia’s air defence system promptly identified and intercepted the Ukrainian missile in midair, preventing any damage or casualties, as stated by the Defense Ministry. Governor of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov also confirmed that two Ukrainian missiles were shot down by the air defence system near the Kerch Strait, assuring that the Crimean Bridge remained unaffected.

This episode of attacks in the Crimea region has become increasingly frequent. In a previous instance in July, Moscow accused Ukraine of launching 17 drones towards Crimea overnight, referring to it as a “terrorist attack.”
The Defense Ministry reported that they suppressed 14 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) using radio-electronic warfare methods. Russian air defences successfully shot down three drones, three crashed in the Crimean peninsula, and 11 fell into the Black Sea.
During the attack, a Ukrainian drone struck a Russian ammunition depot in Crimea, further intensifying the situation. Ukrainian officials claimed responsibility for the drone strikes targeting both Moscow and Crimea, asserting that electronic warfare and air defence systems were failing to protect the region’s skies.
Russia asserted that their air defences effectively neutralized the drone threat aimed at Moscow. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov mentioned that the drones had been neutralized, and measures were being taken to ensure defense.
