Despite this self-professed aversion to "tribalism" and "deep respect" for its "destructive resilience", Mr. Obama looks, feels and acts as if he were a "dedicated tribalist" himself: some minor but phylogenetically wise Eastern-African kinglet, mindful of paying the tributes to his unknown father(s).  This might be exactly the problem, it pushes him into "isolationism", under any other names and "impossibilities", parochialism, lack of historical depth and scale and under-appreciation of America's role, stature and mission in the world. And into  the ill conceived excuse of preoccupation with more perfect "nation-building" in his own "tribe".  "One of the most destructive forces in the Middle East, Obama believes, is tribalism—a force no president can neutralize. Tribalism, made manifest in the reversion to sect, cre
